Large file delivery · for video & media teams
Half the price of MASV, billed by upload — and your client just clicks once.
Mailboat is a file staging and delivery service. Send 500 GB from a browser — chunked, resumable, integrity-checked. Your client downloads with one click, no account. Files auto-delete when the transfer is done.
Three billing rules, written into our Terms
The industry bills by download — send to five people, pay five times. We don't.
We charge by upload only
Downloads, retries, and failed sessions are never billed. Retry a 300 GB upload all week: one charge.
One upload, any recipients
Send the same delivery to one client or fifty. The bill is identical — it's your upload, not their downloads.
Real-time, no hidden rules
Every charge appears in your dashboard as it accrues, with a per-transfer breakdown. Nothing is rounded in our favor.
Built for the person on the other end
You pay for the transfer — but it's your client who has to receive it. We optimized for them first.
Zero registration, ever
Recipients never create an account, install anything, or hand over an email. They open a link and see one big download button.
Resumable on any connection
Chunked downloads survive hotel Wi-Fi, Starlink, and mobile. Interrupt at 90%, resume at 90%.
Delivery receipts
Every transfer closes with a signed manifest (SHA-256) proving what arrived, intact — the end of "did you get my files?"
Branded delivery pages
Your logo, your colors, your domain. Deliveries look like they come from your studio — because they do. (at launch)
Staging, not storage
Every other service wants to keep your files longer — extended retention is how they monetize. Our economics point the other way.
Auto-delete by default
Files are deleted 7 days after upload by default (1–30 days configurable on paid plans, 30 days hard maximum). Deletion is real deletion.
Your files cross the river. We don't keep them.
No permanent storage, no library, no sync folders. Mailboat exists to complete a transfer, then forget it.
EU data residency
European storage available for EU-based senders and recipients. (at launch)
Full deletion on request
Account deletion cascades to files, metadata, and logs. GDPR rights handled through [email protected].
Security you can check, not just believe
We publish what we do and what we don't — path by path — instead of asking you to trust adjectives.
TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest
Per-part checksums during transfer (xxHash3) and a SHA-256 completion manifest signed off by both sides.
Every upload malware-scanned
Asynchronous scanning on all uploads; detected files are frozen and the sender notified before any recipient sees them.
One-click reporting, 24-hour action
A report button on every transfer page, an abuse team reachable at [email protected], and a DMCA agent registered with the US Copyright Office.
Public status page
Live uptime history, independently recorded by GitHub Actions — status.getmailboat.com. Reproducible throughput benchmarks at launch.
Our pledge
We've watched beloved services get acquired and turn on their users — doubled prices, killed features, AI-trained on client footage. Here is what will never happen here:
- We will never train AI on your content. Not now, not ever, not "anonymized".
- We will never kill a feature you rely on. If something must change, current customers keep it.
- We will not sell, and we will not squeeze. Independent, and staying that way.
For developers
Transfer as an API — the same engine, from your code.
Simple API at launch
Create transfer links, query usage, receive webhooks when deliveries complete. A handful of endpoints, honestly documented.
Bill by upload, like everything else
API transfers follow the same three rules. $0.12/GB, no per-download multipliers.
Early access
We're onboarding a small group of video teams before public launch. Write to us — tell us what you're sending and what it costs you today. Or take the live demo for a spin first.
